Atterby is an americana/country-band based in Stockholm founded by husband and wife team Adam and Charlotte Atterby. To complete the core line-up of the band Lars Frick was adopted into the musical fold. In 2004 Adam started up rootsreggae band Urban Tribe Stockholm in which Charlotte headed up the backing vocal section and Adam sang lead. Lars became the bassplayer for all of UTS’s liveshows aswell as the bassplayer of choice in Adam and Charlotte’s coverband Bigfoot.
UTS released 4 albums and if it hadn’t been for the latest UTS-album ”Better Days” (released in 2012), Atterby would have come into fruition much earlier as some of the songs on ”Songs from the green tower” were written as early as 2009. The idea that got Atterby started was to put the spotlight on Charlotte and to explore new musical ground, drawing on influences like Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crowe, Daniel Lanois, Steve Earle and many others. In 2013 the work of making the debut album began in earnest. All songs were recorded in the attic of Adam and Charlotte’s home in Värmdö outside Stockholm.
Lead vocals, guitars,
Singer, guitarplayer, songwriter and producer Adam Atterby worked professionally fulltime with music for about 15 years. He has worked with well known swedish artists, actors and entertainers aswell as playing with some of the finest musicians in Sweden. With coverband Bigfoot he has done shows all over Sweden aswell as in Finland, Norway, Denmark, England and the US. In 2004 Urban Tribe Stockholm was formed and the band released 4 studio albums. On the second album (”Who is the enemy?”, released in 2006) Adam got to sing a duet with one of his childhood idols, David Hinds of british legendary reggaeband Steel Pulse; a result of UTS opening for Steel Pulse on their Scandinavian tour in 2005. UTS received great critial acclaim all over the world and has toured Germany several times. In 2008 UTS became the first ever ”white” reggaeband to tour Jamaica.
Bass, backing vocals
Bassplayer Lars Frick has been playing with Adam and Charlotte in their other bands since 2008 - Urban Tribe Stockholm and Bigfoot. Now he is a regular part of the band Atterby, dispite his differnt surname. Over the years Lars has been playing a variety of music genres in different groups; soul, reggae, punk, rock, pop, disco and now also country. However, always as a hobby musician. When he doesn't play on his mid 70's Fender Jazz, he sometimes also tries to handle an upright bass, without much success.
Singer Charlotte Atterby has been singing all her life but it wasn’t until she and Adam became a couple about 12 years ago that she started singing in earnest. She has been an integral part of Urban Tribe Stockholm and Bigfoot (see Adam’s bio for more details) since then and it’s very rare to find Adam on a stage without Charlotte by his side. Charlotte had always been singing harmony parts until Adam more or less forced her to take the plunge and start singing lead. She has co-written one song on the album, ”Let’s leave it all behind us”. Adam and Charlotte have been married for 10 years and they have a son named Rasmus.
